“Moony,” he breathes out, planning to take a step forward only to halt in the process, remembering their last conversation. “I’m sorry.”

And he is, he’s so very sorry, he didn’t mean to make Remus mad, he loves Remus, he would give anything just to see—

“It’s okay, Sirius,” Remus says, like it is the easiest thing in the world. “I’m not mad at you.”

Something loosens inside Sirius’ chest at his husband’s words. “Yeah?”

Remus smiles, and it’s blinding. “Yes.”

Sirius tries to smile but it crumbles so fast, his chin wobbling. “I missed you so much, where did you go?”

“I am wherever you are,” Remus whispers, like he’s letting him in on a secret.

“Can we go now, then?” Sirius asks, hopeful. “It’s getting cold.”

Remus hums, stretching out his hand for Sirius to take. “Let’s go home, my love.”
